The Artists are Busy!
As usual, the Art Center has been very busy lately, working to promote younger students’ involvement in art and creating various murals for the school and community. Today, the Art Center recruited several art students to help create a video that will be shown to Grand Avenue students and Mepham freshmen, encouraging young artists to continue their interest in art and inspiring new artists to pursue their interests. Additionally, the artists have been continuing their creation of several murals, including one for the Nurses’ Fund and the Beach Mural for the Social Workers’ Room.

Annual Pumpkin Painting Fundraiser
All of Mepham’s art students look forward to the fall season and the approach of Halloween, which marks the nearing of, everyone’s favorite fundraiser, the Art Center’s Pumpkin Painting Day. Today, members of the Art Service Club congregated once again to paint their pumpkins, gourds, and other seasonal vegetables. The artists delighted in painting, enjoying snacks, watching Coraline, and perfecting their pumpkins. These magnificent pumpkins will be sold to students and faculty and money raised will be donated to local families in need through the Nurses Fund. Certainly, this thriving tradition will persist in years to come and Mepham will continue to beautify each pumpkin that enters the Art Center.
The Thoughts of October's Solo Show AP Students
This month, Mepham proudly displayed the drawings and paintings of Emily Fox in the main office and the photography of Rachel Waldmann in the copy room. Emily and Rachel were humbled by this great honor and proud to show off the pieces on which they have worked tirelessly. Emily commented that she was excited to share her work with her peers. In having her art on display in the main office, teachers and students who do not ordinarily have a chance during the day to visit the art center were able to view her work.
Similarly, Rachel delighted at the oppurtunity to have her work on display to all of Mepham. She was glad to show off the work she did over the summer, in which she focused on photographing various metal objects. In preparing for her solo show, Rachel found herself frantically finalizing her work and would like to thank Ms. Schiulaz and Emily Fox for helping her during this stressful and exciting time.
Both Emily and Rachel said that this experience will motivate them to continue their passion for art. Years from now, when Emily and Rachel have their masterpieces on display in art galleries worldwide, they will fondly look back on their solo show at Mepham.
